Foundation Brewing Company uses classic styles as the inspiration for brewing exciting beers that push conventional boundaries. Founded in 2012 and opening in 2014, Foundation is located at 1 Industrial Way in Portland, which has been a breeding ground of World Class Maine beers.

Assistant Brewer

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with production, brewing, cellar, packaging and QC operations; with strict adherence to standard operating procedures set forth in training.
  • Assist in maintaining a fun, clean, neat, and safe work area.
  • Perform basic maintenance task on pumps, valves, tanks and process equipment.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of kegs.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough log sheets and other written documentation.
  • Ability to operate or train to operate forklift.
  • Embrace opportunities for ongoing improvements to process and of working beer knowledge.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • This is an hourly, full-time position, 40 hours/week and includes a competitive benefits package.
  • Standard production schedule is Monday to Friday with rotating weekend shifts, 7am-4pm, although this position’s shift may vary week to week based on the brew schedule.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21 years.

Candidate must be able to work in a standing position continuously, be able to bend, stoop, and reach occasionally, and occasionally lift 60 pounds and move up to 170 pounds.

Tasting Room Associate / Beer Educator

Part-Time Seasonal Position (June-October)

We are looking for someone to join our tasting room team who shares our passion for beer. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating a welcoming and friendly experience for visitors (both individuals and large groups)
  • Educating visitors about Foundation beers and the brewing process in general
  • Leading guests through tasting flights
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the tasting room (including draft lines), restrooms and outdoor patio
  • Serving samples and filling growlers, according to state laws and company policies
  • Completion of direct sales transactions
  • Maintaining tasting room glassware and merchandise inventory, and restocking as needed
  • Re-stocking kegs in the tasting room; must be able to lift and move 60 pounds
  • Ongoing advancement of working beer knowledge
  • Other duties as needed
  • This is an hourly, part-time position, 18-24 hours/week, and includes tips
  • Must be available weekends and holidays
  • Minimum age requirement is 21 years
  • Alcohol Seller & Server certification (or equivalent, such as TIPS) and/or successful completion of server training course as directed by Foundation Brewing is required

Packaging Assistant & Tasting Room Bar Back (Combined Position)

Part-Time Seasonal Position (June-October)

We are looking for someone to join our team who shares our passion for beer. This is an entry-level position that will give you a taste of various areas in the brewery. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

BREWERY PACKAGING ASSISTANT

  • Assist with packaging operations; with strict adherence to standard operating procedures set forth in training
  • Assist in maintaining a fun, clean, neat, and safe work area
  • One day per week helping on the canning line, including pack-out, loading pallets of cans, preparing pallets of cans for delivery. The one day per week will usually fall on a Tuesday, but may periodically fall on another weekday.

TASTING ROOM BAR BACK

  • Creating a welcoming and friendly experience for visitors (both individuals and large groups)
  • Assist with opening and closing duties
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the tasting room, restrooms and outdoor patio
  • Clearing glassware from tasting room and patio, wiping tables, emptying trash, monitoring bathroom cleanliness, loading dishwasher, restocking glassware shelves
  • Maintaining tasting room glassware and merchandise inventory, and restocking as needed
  • Helping restock kegs and cans in tasting room walk-in cooler
  • Ongoing advancement of working beer knowledge
  • Other duties as needed
  • Must be available on Saturday and Sunday

This is an hourly, part-time position, 18-24 hours/week, and includes tips
