Magnus is a sour red ale, inspired by the ales of Flanders, and brewed with a Foundation twist. The beer is first kettle soured, and then fermented with our house Belgian yeast which allows us to create a bright, yet soft acidity. Additional wild yeasts are introduced as the beer matures for months in red wine barrels. Extended bottle conditioning allows the flavors to meld and mature.
Magnus features notes of cherry and dried fruit layered over oak and caramelized malt. Balanced by a bright acidity, Magnus is complex while remaining light and refreshing.
Magnus means “great” in Latin and is named for a great dog companion who we hold dear in our hearts.
