Part-Time Tasting Room Bartender

Our tasting room is a place where we share our story and teach visitors about our beer. We see our tasting room as a community place where both locals and travelers can enjoy our beer in a fun and safe environment. Our tasting room and outdoor patio are family-friendly and dogs are welcomed on our outdoor patio. We are looking for a part-time bartender to join our team who shares a passion for craft beer and interacting with the beer community.

Our tasting room is connected to our brewery production space in the Industrial Way neighborhood of Portland. We are currently open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) from 12-8pm on Monday, Wednesday-Saturday, and 12-6pm on Sunday. Our tasting room has 18 taps for draft pours, and also sells beer-to-go and merchandise. Our Brewery Kitchen opened in July 2022 and specializes in Detroit-style pizza. We utilize a counter service model with buzzers for customers to pick up their food at the kitchen window in the summer and a table flag system in the winter.

We are primarily looking for someone who can work approximately 10-18 hours per week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with occasional Saturdays to help cover time off for other team members. Job Description and Responsibilities:

Our tasting room team is responsible for maintaining a fun and safe environment for all of our customers. It is a busy, high energy environment, requiring a high level of customer service.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating a welcoming and friendly experience
  • Educating visitors about Foundation beers and the brewing process in general
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the tasting room (including draft lines), outdoor patio and restrooms
  • Serving samples, full pours and flights, according to state guidelines and company policies
  • Completion of direct sales transactions using Square for Restaurants POS
  • Fulfilling pre-orders received from our online store
  • Maintaining tasting room glassware and merchandise inventory, re-stocking as needed
  • Re-stocking kegs and cans in the tasting room
  • Ongoing advancement of working beer knowledge

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum age requirement is 21 years
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work weekends and holidays. We are primarily looking for someone who can work approximately 10-18 hours per week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with occasional Saturdays.
  • State approved safe server training must be completed before your first shift; this is provided by the Company and paid for and compensated time
  • Candidate must be able to work in a standing position continuously
  • Candidate must be able to bend, stoop, and reach frequently
  • Candidate must be able to frequently lift 60 pounds and occasionally move up to 170 pounds to re-stock kegs in the tasting room cooler
  • All candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (our outdoor patio is our most popular seating location in the summer months)

Full-Time Line Cook

Come join our kitchen team! Do you love making pizza? Maybe you just love eating pizza but love to cook and create? We are looking for a full-time line cook to join our team who shares a passion for service, pizza, and craft beer. Two of our owners are native Detroiters who relocated to Maine decades ago. We have been overwhelmed by the amazing feedback about our Detroit-style “Crispy Square” Pizza. Paired with the delicious and varied beers that we have been producing here at Foundation since 2014, our tasting room and pizza kitchen is focused on providing a fun and welcoming experience to everyone who visits.

You will be working with our Kitchen Team to not only create and execute great pizza, but also other beer-friendly casual fare in a counter-service and takeaway model to complement our diverse range of beer offerings. The Line Cook will report to our Kitchen Lead and ownership. This is a full-time, hourly position, five days per week with two consecutive days off. Anticipated compensation between $21-25/hr based on experience and performance.

  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a contributing team member
  • Facilitate on-site dough production
  • Work to ensure all kitchen equipment is functioning properly
  • Fulfilling pre-orders received from our online store
  • Assist with serving customers using our counter service buzzers or table numbers depending on the season
  • Coordinate with Tasting Room team on special projects and private events

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred
  • Prior pizza or baking experience a plus
  • Ability to work well and stay cool and composed in a busy workplace
  • Physical stamina to meet job demands
  • Effective communication skills and a team player
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum age requirement is 21 years
